Visual Branding

StudioBees

StudioBees is a small start-up company that I have done freelance for for the last few years. While the company was officially set up, I worked with the founder and another team member to create a name and logo that accurately represents the business. I began by discussing with the client what made his business different from the other freelance design and videography companies. As we discussed what he valued the most in his business, the symbol of a beehive working together, began to form. We used that, and the other team member and I began sketching out possible ideas. Over time and after brainstorming several ideas, the idea was to create a bee using three hexagons. Using Adobe Illustrator, I built the logo we had designed. Next, I gave my client multiple color options. It was decided that the best option was to go with the traditional bee colors. After experimenting with different typefaces to find the best look for the company name and the tagline, I played with the size and placement of the text with the logo to help create the best look possible.

Business Card

As part of the branding I also designed this business card. The goal was to create a clean professional look, as well as to emphasize the concept of the “creative hive” through the use of the hexagon pattern.

Pasadena High

This logo was designed as an example when I worked as a lab assistant for the Communications department at BYU-Idaho. I was tasked with creating a logo and letterhead for a fictional company. I began by picking my fictional company (a fictional high school). From there, I decided on a mascot for the school, Pirates, and then I began to sketch multiple possible ideas. After refining my three favorite sketches I brought them into Adobe Illustrator and created three vector roughs. From there I chose my favorite and began refining it and adding color. Finally, I created a letterhead matching the logo's look and style.

Roughs

Part of the process of creating a new logo is coming up with as many options as possible. After doing basic sketches, the best ideas are turned into roughs in black and white on Adobe Illustrator. Then, the chosen design is finalized, and colors are selected.

Letterhead

After finishing the logo, a letterhead was designed.
